TMS320F28035: the connection always be broken when simulate TIDM-BUCKBOOST-BIDIR

Part Number: TMS320F28035
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDM-BUCKBOOST-BIDIR

Hi Team,

My customer said the connection always be broken when simulate TIDM-BUCKBOOST-BIDIR. The error message said the simulator is not connected.

Then the customer need to reconnect the label between the simulator and USB of PC.

How to fix it?

  • Hi Yale,

I believe you mean the customer is using the XDS100 isolated emulator on the F28035 controlCARD to connect with PC, and the connection between emulator and CCS will break during the debug. Please confirm if this issue only happens when they are trying to run higher power / higher voltage through the power stage or will it happen even when the main power is not provided to the power stage.

If the connection break only happens during high power or high voltage debug, it is a known issue with some of the earlier boards using XDS100 emulator. It is mostly the EMI emission from the power stage that will interfere with the USB connection between emulator and PC. Some possible solution including using better (shielded) USB cable, shorter USB cable, adding ferrite ring to the USB cable (wrap the cable through a ferrite ring a couple of times), which may reduce the interference. Thanks.
