BOOSTXL-POSMGR: BOOSTXL-POSMGR

Part Number: BOOSTXL-POSMGR
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHSECDOCK, LAUNCHXL-F28379D

I am using the F28388D daughter card with the TMDSHSECDOCK to read a differnetial encoder. I am just using jumper wires to the dock, however I still occasionally get some noise issues on the position sensor. The cable is about 3-4ft in length and I am using many boards/jumpers in the prototyping set up so there is noise in the enviroment that isn't helping. I was curious if there was any ideas that may be of help to mitigate the noise issue on the position sensing. Currently I am using shielded twisted pair jumpers wherever possible.

  • Option one would be to us a LaunchXL-F28379D device to develop the code. Its quite similar in many aspects to F28388D.

otherwise, keep cabling short and away from noise sources. Option to include a ground wire with the transmission pairs. Decoupling caps or LP filters can sometimes be placed near the signal receiver to help suppress some noise on the line. This of course depends on the type of signal.

3-4 feet is quite long. This leaves a lot of time for those signals to pick up noise assuming the buffers driving the signals are even strong enough to transmit that far.
