Hi Team,
I want to understand more on the ePWM X-BAR in F28P65x processor.
1. In the ePWM chapter, it is mentioned only about TRIP4 -12 (except for TRIP6) comes from ePWM XBAR.
However, in the ePWM XBAR chapter it is said the XBAR signal from ePWM XBAR A goes to TRIPIN 1 - 8 and ePWM XBAR B goes to TRIP9-15.
Although ePWM XBAR B has less output as per the image above, the registers for ePWM XBAR A and ePWM XBAR B are identical.
PFB my questions,
1. Are TRIPIN1-15 different from TRIP signals i.e TRIP1-12?
2. How are these signals mapped with each other?
3. Des OUT1 in ePWM Xbar A correspond to TRIPIN 1 and OUT1 in ePWM Xbar correspond to TRIPIN 9? If so then what is OUT8 in ePWM XBAR B?
4. Can I get more details on the enhancements of these XBARS from its predecessor 2838x?
Kind regards,
Irene
Hello Irene,
On F28P65x devices, there are two instances of the ePWM X-BAR (ePWM X-BAR A and ePWM XBAR B). Table 16-5 describes the inputs to the ePWM X-BARs, which are identical for both instances. Each instance has 8 outputs. The outputs of ePWM X-BAR A are connected to trips 1-8 of each ePWM instance, while outputs 1-4 and output 6-7 of ePWM X-BAR B are connected to trips 9-12 and trips 14-15 of each ePWM instance, respectively. Note that outputs 5 and 8 of ePWM X-BAR B are not connected to any ePWM trip source.
First picture is incorrect will communicate to internal team for correction.
Please refer to section 16.2.1 ePWM X-BAR for more insights on epwm xbar.
Thanks!
Prarthan.
Hi Prarthan,
Thank you for your response.
Is there no TRIP 13? Also does that mean now there are TRIP1-15 for F28p65x processors? This would be an enhancement to its predecessors. All TRIP1-15 can be used for CBC and OST in Trip Zone?
Section 16.2.1 describes more on the input to the XBAR. I would like to know some more about the TRIP signals.
Are TRIPIN 1 -15, which are the output signals from ePWM XBARs, directly mapped as TRIP1-15 signals to ePWM module?
Thanks and regards,
Irene
Hello Irene,
Yes because we have two epwm xbar instances in f28p65x devices as compared to one in f2838x devices hence we have 2x TRIPIN Signals capability. TRIP13 is reserved/not used.
TRIPIN signals from EPWM-XBAR will be routed to DC submodule and based on DCTRIPSEL any trip can be routed to DCA/BEVT1/2 Signals and trigger OSHT or CBC for respective epwm modules.
