TMS320LF240xA meeting UL1647 sub UL60730-1A

I have a customer who is using the TMS210LF2402A ans 2406A in his product since 2002 and has gotten UL certification since 2005. UL (Taiwan) is now asking him to re-certify his product to the UL1647 sub section UL60730-1A which, i believe, deals with MCU modules and software.

Is this product compliant?

If not, how can it be made compliant?

Thank you

  • Naij,

I'm told that we do not have safety libraries for these legacy devices.

Memory and CPU tests are possible, but without hardware assists like dual clocks, they will not meet the 60730 specification.

  • Hi Alvaro,

Is there a list of C2000 devices that are, in case the customer is forced to upgrade to a newer C2000?

    Thank you

    Naji

  • Hello Naji,

We are currently working on an IEC60730 library for the Piccolo TMS320F2806x family.  We are aiming to get this library released in 2H'12. This library will assist with UL certification.

After this library is released, we will then tailor the library for the Piccolo TMS320F2803x family.

I suggest that customer looks at both of these device families as an upgrade path from the LF240x family.

I would like to specify though that these Piccolo Families are not certified at the device level.  The certification is still needed at the system application level.

    BR,

    Sang Chon
