Hello Team,

I'm working with a DRV8302-HC-C2-KIT and wondering if there is anyway I can try to figure out the motor temperature through sensing the winding resistance. My goal is to try to track motor temperature without adding a temperature sensor to the setup.

Might this be possible to estimate with Instaspin-FOC?

So I would just need to get like a TMDSCNCD28054MISO or TMDSCNCD28069MISO controlCARD to evaluate this with the main board from the DRV8302-HC-C2-KIT?

no, unfortunately the SW in MotorWare is just for the DRV8301 based EVM. There are some people who have made the changes to the code to support the DRV8302 kit, but not sure it's worth the effort.

If the current range is <15A you would probably be better off using something like BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM + LAUNCHXL-F28069M

Actually Elizabeth & Chris - the fact that the DRV8302 sets the over current adjust externally versus the DRV8301 that sets a DRV8301 internally supplied setting due to the SPI transactions is probably a key reason why one can't guarantee MotorWare not being completely compatible on a DRV8302.

To measure the wire resistance of the motor. So you can workout the motor temperature.
To do that the motor needs to be static. And that may be an issue.
