Hello TI world. I am currently in the pursuit of building my own bldc motor controller based on the f28027f microcontroller with insta spin foc. The speed controller that i want to build or mimic from another manufacturer controls two bldc motors, separate mcu,  separate programming port, but one potentiometer/throttle controls both motots in a timed fashion. My question is where can i look that will teach me or tutor me into making this happen, as far as the linking of two more microcontroller units to work off one pot/throttle. If my question is misunderstood i apologize i will try to reword it. Thanks for any guidance and recommendation.

  • Hi Horace

First thing you should do is download Motorware if you haven't already. There are a lot of good examples in there for InstaSPIN-FOC. You can also find a write-up on adding a potentiometer input to the ADC for speed control in the docs folder here: C:\ti\motorware\motorware_1_01_00_18\docs\tutorials

You may also be interested in evaluating our dual motor control on one MCU example. If you are, you will need a LaunchXL-F28069M launchpad plus either a BoostXL-DRV8301 or BoostXL-DRV8305 booster pack. The DRV devices are integrated FET drivers that our examples are configured to work with out of the box

Either way, Motorware has a lot of good examples to get you started with sensorless motor control on our Piccolo devices

  • Thanks for the speedy reply. I did download motorware, and control suite but i dont think i did it right. All of the drop boxes where empty or blank, i thought it was my computer so i got windows 10 pro installed last week. I Have yet to download them again but will do tonite. I trully appreciate the guidance although im not an engineer ive been into motors and speed controllers since the mid 80s and now im tired of spending money on trash. I dont know if its possible to achieve what im trying but with some guidance i will succeed. Thanks again Texas Instruments.

  • You can also use ControlSUITE and Motorware through the Windows File Explorer if the Resource Explorer isn't working correctly on your end. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. For reference, we also have a C2000 forum dedicated for InstaSPIN support you can post in as well if the question is directly related to InstaSPIN
