CCS/TIDM-1003: considerations for high voltage three-phase BLDC hardware design, based on of TIDM-1003

Part Number: TIDM-1003
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi there,

I want to use TIDM-1003 for high voltage application. What technical considerations do I need and what should I add to the design to make my design meet all of the technical requirements.

My motor is 300V, 20A, three-phase BLDC, 1200RPM.

Sincerely,

Mehdi.

  • The reference design is for low voltage high current motor, you need to change all power devices (MOSFET, Gate Driver, and Filter Capacitor ) to support high voltage. You might refer to the high voltage kit to design such board as the following link.

Download controlSUITE from the below link, and then the hardware files should be found under the folder.

  • Dear Luo,

Thanks for your prompt reply, provided with detailed information.

As I checked the design directory folder and design schematics, some questions came to my mind:

    1. Do I need PFC section and is it necessary? What are its benefits?

    2. Grounds for MCU section and power rails are not isolated. Is it necessary to isolate them?

    3. What if I use TIDM-1003 and simply add high voltage/high power IPM like FSBB30CH60CT? (and also recalculate and newly design voltage and current sensing) Do I need additional considerations?

  • As replied to you in the other thread you posted.

    1. PFC is for power supply to improve the power factor of the input power that is not must have for motor control.

    2. That depends on your system requirement and hardware design, both are OK for motor control.

    3. As mentioned above, please refer to the high voltage kit.
