TMS320F28377D: McBSP Multichannel Mode question

Part Number: TMS320F28377D

Hi Champ,

From the TRM , i can see below description , does it is means for receive just support two partitions and transmit just support 8 partitions?

It is possible to have two receive partitions (A & B) and 8 transmit partitions (A – H).

For the  McBSP Modes ,does it means Multichannel Mode just support 8-bit words ?

  • Chen,

I'm still looking into this, will update the thread by tommorow.

  • Chen,

Multichannel mode should support 8/12/16/20/32 bit wide data sizes.

I think what you want to do in terms of 2 receive and 8 transmit should be possible with the RCERx and XCERx registers.

This app notes goes into implementation detail for multi-channel mode; even though it is written for the C6000 DSP, the McBSP is the same on the C2000 devices.

  • Hi Matthew,

While my question is whether receive can support 8 partitions?

    Thanks!

  • Johnson,

I'm not sure I understand what is meant by partitions C-H.  From the documentation there are only 2 partitions: A(lower 16-bits) and B(upper 16-bits).

There are 8 sub-frames, however, each with 16 channels of the 128 channel total.  Each subframe can be independently configured for Rx, Tx, or both.  I assumed your A-H question was referring to the subframes, in which case your split can be configured as you want.

Let me know if I'm still mis-understanding.

  • Johnson,

Checking back to see if there is still an issue or this has been resolved.  I'm going to mark as TI thinks resolved, but if you reply back it will re-open.

    Best,
