Hi,

I am doing firmware upgrade using SCI. We are facing problem with upgrading firmware with our latest version of code where as its working with previous version. I have observed that as code size increases, firmware upgrade is failing. It is showing something like this

Can increased code size effect the bootloading process? I suspect it has something to do with bootloader. Please share if you have any information regarding this.

Hi,

Could you please check if you are

Using the F2877S SCI Kernels from the latest C2000Ware v2.00.00.03 package?
Building the application with the updated linker command file such the sections are aligned on 128-bits. i.e. use ALIGN(8) instead of ALIGN(4).

Did you try to erase the flash sectors before programming? i.e. use option 2 before using option 1.

Hi,

I have checked using kernels and cmd linker file from C2000Ware v2.00.00.03 package. Also I performed erase before DFU.

I'm getting program error. Screenshoot is attached below for your ref.

I have checked firmware upgrade of our old firmware with latest kernel and linker files. It is successfully upgrading the firmware. But when I try to do firmware upgrade with our latest firmware, it is returning program error.

My observation is that the only difference between our old and new firmware is that code size has increased.

Please help me out.

Please let me if you are using the command

hex2000.exe -boot -sci8 -a -o <file.txt> <file.out>

to generate the text file.

Yes.

I'm using the following command in postbuil steps in ccs to generate .txt file:

"${CG_TOOL_HEX}" "${BuildArtifactFileName}" -boot -sci8 -a -o "${BuildArtifactFileBaseName}.txt"

Hi,

There is a way to debug to know at what point the issue has come.

Use the Visual Studio project of the serial flash programmer. Comment out the DownloadKernel() function. Rebuild to generate serial_flash_programmer.exe.

With this you can just send the application to kernel directly i.e. skip programming kernel.

Load the kernel directly through CCS. Send the application using updated serial flash programmer. Put a break point in kernel at

statusCode.status = PROGRAM_ERROR;

in \C2000Ware_2_00_00_03\device_support\f2837xs\examples\cpu1\F2837xS_sci_flash_kernel\cpu01\Shared_Boot.c

Please let me know the value of BlockHeader.DestAddr, oReturnCheck and oFlashStatus when the breakpoint is hit. This would help to debug.
