TIDM-1010: Using 2 motors with BiSS-C Absolute Encoder Master Interface Reference Design

Part Number: TIDM-1010
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F28379D, BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM, , DRV8305

Hi Team,

This is customer request can you please advise:

"

In our project, we will do the position control of 2 motors (28vdc, peak current: 11.6 A max, Brushless AC servomotor.) Using LAUNCHXL-F28379D dsp.

We are planning to use 2 BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM modules to drive the motors.

For 2 absolute encoders, we plan to use 1 TIDM-1010 BiSS-C Absolute Encoder Master Interface module.

Is it possible to use 1 LAUNCHXL-F28379D + 2 BOOSTXL-DRV8305EVM + 1 TIDM-1010 together?

If not, is there a different alternative for us to read 2 Biss-C output encoders?

"

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

  • Furkan, I am looking into this.  I need to consult with someone more familiar with the DRV8305.  I will get back to you before the end of the week.

  • Each of them need a SPI interface. And so two DRV8305 booster pack and a TIDM-1010 on the same launch pad at the same time is not possible. You can consider one DRV and one BiSS booster pack for lab evaluation. Alternately, you can custom design a PCB to host a control card and these three booster packs and route the signals per requirement. Hope it helps.
