HW guide of TMDXIDDK379D says that only these position encoders are supported by the board.
1. QEP
2. Resolver
3. Sin-Cos
4. EnDat / BiSS
By any chance, can we interface the position encoder with 3 Hall sensors to TMDXIDDK379D?
Yes, from a hardware standpoint, QEP and HALL are three signals, so no issues with accommodating HALL feedback.
Dear Ramesh,
But eQEP and eCAP peripherals are entirely different. Are they compatible with each other? Or Can eQEP be configured as eCAP to capture HALL pulses?
Regards,
Karthik
I meant the interface hardware on IDDK. QEP and CAP are different as you know and cannot substitute each other. If you want to capture HALL periods, you do need eCAP inputs and you may have to wire it to those GPIOs accordingly
Dear Ramesh,
The eCAP pins on TMDXIDDK379D (GPIO 24, 25, 26, 27) are not accessible. Is there any way to access it?
Regards,
Karthik
Suggest to look at the device datasheet to find out which other GPIOs the ECAP is pinned out. Generally, these are pinned out on many GPIOs and are not limited to just one GPIO. Hope it helps.
