DRV8301-69M-KIT: REV D

Part Number: DRV8301-69M-KIT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE

Hi everyone,

I have purchased a DRV8301-69M-KIT fm TI and a the motor in the link (www.ti.com/.../lvservomtr). I connected the kit to my desktop along with the usb cable. I installed the gui composer, connected all cables originating from the motor to the kit pcb. I supplied 24V & 50V (tried 2 cases) but there was something wrong. After running the gui composer, the motor & kit board were successfully identified.From around 25% to 45% of the motor identification process the motor started revolving smoothly @ 50V/100mA without any weird sounds or anything abnormal. After the identification process reached 100% i clicked on the Tab "Speed or Torque" and later on clicked on the Start/Stop button. After 3-4 seconds the motor started making hiss sounds with its' axis making random clockwise and counterclockwise moves without completing a full revolution. The exact same random behavior (after successfully identifying kit board & motor) occured in both gui composers.
InstaSPIN-FOC & InstaSPIN Motion.

I did not alter any parameters like "Identification Settings" section rectangle, Speed loop tuning PI parameters etc

Can anybody help me go through the process of making the motor revolve with either InstaSPIN-FOC & InstaSPIN Motion?

My motor control knowledge is very basic.

  • 1. It seems you didn't get the correct motor parameters by identification process. Please disconnect the GREEN line of motor to GND, only need 3 phase lines (BLACK/RED/WHITE) to be connected to OUT_A/B/C, and then try to run the identification again. The correct motor paramaters should be close to below values if you are using the Teknic M2310PLN04K motor.

    #define USER_MOTOR_Rs_Ohm (0.486878037)
    #define USER_MOTOR_Ls_d_H (0.000167491104)
    #define USER_MOTOR_Ls_q_H (0.000167491104)
    #define USER_MOTOR_RATED_FLUX_VpHz (0.0421106555)

    2. Could you please download and install motorWare? You may find the Quick Start Guide about InstaSPIN-FOC/MOTION GUI, you may follow the steps to implement the reference example projects.
