I would recommend going through the kit documentation located in the controlSUITE install here:
C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\TMDSIDDK_v2.0\IDDK_PM_Servo_F2837x_v2_00_00_00\~Docs

There is a section on the correct board HW settings to get up and running.

No, I am not sure of your question. As I mention the documentation I linked above should cover the getting started aspect as well as which settings are needed for either debug or boot mode. Since this is an eval kit, all aspects of demostration should be covered in the docs as well.
