TMS320F28335: Intreface the XINTF to a Multiplexed HPI on a C5517 DSP or C6748

Part Number: TMS320F28335

Hi

How do I configure the XINTF on the F28335 to connect to a multiplexed HPI on the C5517 or the C6748 DSP?

Does anyone have a working example in software for the F28335?

Thank you in advance

  • Maarten,

I am not aware of any XINTF examples for HPI.

The HPI uses the asynchronous memory interface protocol so you would configure and use XINTF as if accessing an external memory device.  The LEAD, ACCESS, and TRAIL times would be determined by the HPI timing parameters from its datasheet.

Do you have any specific concerns?

  • Dear Tommy

Yes the concern I have is as follows. Can you use the data bus of the XINTF also as a address bus? Or rather can you configure the XINTF to use its data bus as a address bus when connecting to a multiplexed HPI? Or do I have to use external logic to route the XINTF data and addrress bus to the multiplexed HPI?

    Regards

  • Maarten,

Thank you for clarifying. The HPI multiplexing logic is implemented in the HPI itself so that the memory controller (XINTF in this case) can behave normally.

My understanding is that the HCNTL pins will indicate to the HPI whether the XINTF data bus should be treated as HPI-address or HPI-data values for any given operation.  I would recommend confirming this with the team that supports the device with the HPI that you ultimately use.

If I am correct, the XINTF address bus is largely deprecated, however the address bus could optionally be used to control the HCNTL pins so that the HPI-ADDRESS would be written to a one F2833x memory location while the HPI-DATA would be written to a second F2833x memory location.
