Dear,

We bought 3 nos of NEW msp fet flash emulator in Nov 2020, out of this two no of flash emulator has giving some problem.

1) Whenever we connect FET to PC through USB cable initially power LED( Green) ON for approximetaly 30 sec and later Power LED OFF and MODE LED( RED ) only ON continuous, Still we have not connected target to FET.

can you tell me how to resolve this problem?

1. So one is good. Two is not good.

2. Does these two FET not work good when you get it?

Yes, one is working good. others are not. we newly start to work on that tools, How can we solved issue.

So when you try to program the MSP430 using the two bad FET, what does the CCS show?

CCS display message

TI MSP430 USB1/MSP430

Error connecting to the target:
Unknown device

Can you change a cable?

It seems that CCS can recognize the MSP-FET, but the MSP-FET can't recognize the MSP430.

I advise you to capture the wave of JTAG pin. Maybe the cap at reset pin is too large.

We changed cable too,

Can you tell me how to capture wave of JTAG , Our microntroller side normally we use 47Kohm resistor to vcc & 2.2nf cap on GND w.r.t reset pin.

So, as you are using series JTAG(SBW), the signal pin is RST and TEST.

All I want to make sure is that:

1. Does the FET generate signal on these two pins.

2. Does the setup of signal is good

Hi Eason,

Our CCS compiler show error:

Error initializing emulator:Interface Communication error.

And we could not get ant signal on pin. MSP FET compiler RED LED On continously.

We also check, when we connect only MSP fet to PC port initially Green led on for 30 Sec & RED LED OFF and later RED LED ON continuously. IN both fet.

It seems that MSP-FET is broken.

Maybe you can read out the code of MSP-FET to compare it will a good one. To see if it is just a software isuue.

If it is a hardware issue, I think it will be a little hard to fix it.

OK I will check.

What we can do if it is software issue or hardware issue.

Do you have any hardware bug solution for this, because both are new fet and its costly to replace

If it is a software issue. You can read out the code from a good device and download it to the bad one.

If it is a hardware issue. You need to handle it by yourself, referring to the debugger guide.3364.MSP Debugger Guide.pdf

Dear Eason,

I have checked that, whenever I updated firmware V3.11.00.001 FET is working. but after reboot or reset the FET power supply it goes to the Error condition, then again I have upadat the version in fet, that mean after every reboot I have to update firmware version inside the FET.

How can I solved this Issue.

Sorry, I haven't meet this problem. Can you check whether the code is changed before and after you re-power the MSP-FET? It can helps to know what's the cause.
