Hi Team,
I am Interfacing Msp430fg4618 with MSP-FET430UIF. as per this document
www.ti.com/.../slau278ah.pdf
i am using 2 wire method
but i am getting error Error connecting to the target:
Unknown device.
earlier it used to code MSP430G2553 , now i am coding MSP430fg4618 so do i need to cange the bootloader or some additional setting i have to do? what could be the problem , Can MSP-FET430UIF be faulty? beacuse i tried with many board but its still showing the same error? Can i download a bootloader again in MSP-FET430UIF? If possible then how to do that?
Thank YOU.
Beat Regards,
Tom Liu
Hi Tom,
If the MSP-FET430UIF can program the G2553 then it is not likely it is faulty. What software are you using to program your target, CCS, Uniflash...?
You don't need to change anything when switching devices. Depending on the SW, the appropriate bootloader for this device is downloaded to the MSP-FET before the SW attempts to first program the device. 99% of the time this problem has to do with programming cable/wires too long or wrong cap on RST line. Cable should be 20cm or less and you should have a 1nF (1000pF) cap on the target reset line.
Is this a custom PCB with G4618? Can you share schematic of MSP430?
