Part Number: MSP-EXP430G2
Hi Experts,
Good day. Client raised his case regarding the issue he encountered while using/uploading the code to development board.
He is running CCS v8.3.1 on a laptop with Windows 7 using MSP-EXP430G2 with a MSP430G2211. He used this device successfully a few months ago. But week ago, he installed CCS V10 and found it would not support the MSP-EXP430G2. Try removed CCS V10 and reinstalled CCS V8. Now when he tries to run the project in debug he gets the following error message:
Error initializing emulator:
Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified COM port
Can it be recovered from this condition or will he has to get the MSP-EXP430G2ET and run CCS V10?
Thank you for your support.
Regards,
Archie A.
Hi Archie,
Error initializing emulator:
Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified COM port
For this error, it seems that not CCS issue, I think maybe CCS10 update the firmware of MSP-FET430UIF, but failed. Thus PC can not identify this hardware.
You can check if there are normal Port for MSP-FET430UIF in PC's device manager.
And then reinstall the driver of MSP-FET430UIF.
Thanks!

Hi Johnson,
Thanks for your guidance.
As per client, he can already connect to the board but now the debug goes to __TI_ISR_TRAP with an infinite loop.
Shared the following message notes:
"This project was created using a version of compiler that is not currently installed - 3.3.1 [MSP430]. Another version of the compiler will be used during build - 18.1.4.LTS. See 'Help > Install New Software' and select 'Code Generation Tools Updates' to check if this compiler is available through a CCS update. Visit <a href="liveaction:OpenAppCenter">CCS App Center</a> to get the latest compiler support. Or <a href="">software-dl.ti.com/.../a> and install the compiler, then register it with CCS through 'Preferences > CCS > Build > Compilers'."
Sorry, though the message is clear to me that this is a matter of compiler version, I couldn't further support him as I don't have the CCS installed in my device to confirm. Can you give us advise on this?
Regards,
Archie A.
Hi Archie,
This issue is means that the compiler version installed inside CCS is not match with this project.
You can follow the guide to update the compiler verison, or create a new project then copy all file to new project.
Thanks!
Best Regards
Johnson
