Part Number: MSP-EXP430G2
Tool/software: Code Composer Studio
We made the Windows 10 update from 18xx to 19xx. Since then, the LaunchPad MSP-EXP430G2 is not longer recognized from Windows. We have a lot of the LaunchPads on our stock in our institute and need to program them. What can we do?
We use Code Composer 6.2.0.00050
Hi,
Please uninstall your current version of CCS and install the latest version CCS.
Dear Wei,
I have deinstalled our version 6.2.0.00050 (with full license) and have installed the latest version Code Composer 9.1.0.00010. Also with this it is not possible to program the LaunchPads.
So we are still not able to do our daily work. Please can you help?
Franz Peter
Hi Peter,
Sorry for reply late. It seems strange for your issue. Could you try on the other PC with your launchpad?
we have tried several things: different Windows 10- PCs, different USB-Ports, different USB-cables. Also wie switched off the USB3.0 support of the USB-Devices to USB2.0 only. Nothing helps really. Sometimes it works; but on round about ten or twenty tries only one try works. And each try need lots of time.
In the meantime I have found an old Notebook with Windows 7. With this it works all perfect! So there is a big problem with the LaunchPad MSP-EXP430G2 from Texas Instruments and Windows 10! I can not believe that we are the only organisation which have still lots of this LauchPads and need to program them under Windows 10. It would be nice, if you could tell me a solution or a workaround how we can do our daily work. Maybe you have a new driver for the LaunchPad? Or an update for CodeComposer especially to solve this problem?

I'm a very interested bystander. We use G2 Launchpads for all sorts of things here. I'm still at Win10 1809, but MS could decide to upgrade me at any time.
Hello Bruce,
we have also recognized a difference between Windows 7 (everything worked fine) and Windows 10. Unter Windows 10 it worked not so good. Downloading to the board took much more time than under windows 7. and often it could not finde the programming-adapter. However it has worked. Not good but it has done. The total out was after the Windows 10 update.

The G2 still works (apparently) fine for me at 1809 (CCS 8.3.1). I'm taking your warning seriously, so we don't get blind-sided when the (inevitable) upgrade happens.
I can't fix this, but I thought another "vote" might spur TI's investigation a little.
Maybe I found the solution!
Windows has changed the energy-save-mode.
Now I disabled all energy save-options and now it works fine.
However I am skeptical. I will work with it for a while and we will see what happens.
My Win10 update started as I was leaving yesterday, so I guess I'll find out on Monday.
Is there a check-box or some-such that I should be looking for?
Hi Franz,
Have you worked it well?
I’m assuming you were able to resolve your issue. If this isn’t the case, please click the "This did NOT resolve my issue" button and reply to this thread with more information. If this thread locks, please click the "Ask a related question" button and in the new thread describe the current status of your issue and any additional details you may have to assist us in helping to solve your issues.
I have disabled all energy saving options which I could find. On my computer it works now. On other computers not. The energy save options are different depending on the typ of computer.
Last week I have had a workshop with older computer - however with Windows 10. There it worked maybe every second try. So it is very different. So for me the problem is not really solved.

After my update to 190x my (old) G2 Launchpad seems to run fine. (I only tried one so far.) I'm using CCS v8.3, but that's probably irrelevant.
My SysAdmin configured this machine, so I have no idea what options are set.
Hi Peter,
It looks the issue is depends on you computer since Win10 Version1809 OS build 17763.615 also works for my board. Looks strange for your issue.
I would also suggest you to ask on the CCS forum within E2E, because we are support technical issue about MSP430 devices but it seems your issue is related to your OS and the driver.
