Hello,

The firmware of my MSP-FET430UIF programming interface has been erased. When connected to my Windows 10 PC, a serial port is well added but neither the red nor green led turns on.

How shall I proceed to put back the firmware? Until now, I was using Elprotronic Lite FET Pro but in this present case, it is not effective.

Hi Stephane,

See section 5.6.5.3 in the MSP430 Debugger User Guide, SLAU647. There is a simple step-by-step procedure to perform a "cold" boot.

This process applies to MSP-FET, not to elderly MSP-FET430UIF.

Hi Stephane,

So it was working and now it isn't. When it was working, do you make any changes or updates to the computer it was connected to? What is the model/serial number on the back?

Hi Dennis, with Elprotronic FET-Pro430 I have tried to make a "Firmware downgrade from V3 to V2". The operation failed and now LEDs are always OFF and the MSP-FET430UIF is seen by my Windows PC as a serial port.

The model is MSP-FET430UIF V1.4a SN: 0841416000173

Hi Stephane,

I did some digging and found several posts that indicate V2 firmware requires a CDC based driver.

Hi Stephane, I'm looking on the web. This driver was deprecated many years ago and is no longer supported. It may difficult to find it. I'll keep looking.

Try MSPFlasher v1.3.20, as another user reported that worked to allow them to update from V2 firmware - see CCS/MSP430FR2433: Unable to us MSP-FETU430IF with CCSv9
