MSP430F6724: Problems with duplicated serial numbers

I've read some threads in this forum, about the serialization of devices by using the MSP Gang programmer.

We're facing the same issue in our laboratory, where we program some TI microcontrollers by adding a serial number to the FW.

This serial number has to be unique for wach device, however from time to time some of them are duplicated.

The main issue is due to to fact that the application doesn't give any indication if a serial number is duplicated.

We realise this by checking the log at the end of the operation, however it's too late because maybe we duplicated serial numbers #99 and #100 out of 200 devices.

This is what we use:

- MSP Gang Programmer HW name: G430

- Revision 01.04

- API FW in MSP-Gang: 01.03.03.00

Did anybody ever encounter a similar issue?

Hi Gischio,

You use MSP-GANG to download MSP430 with serial number?

Is the increment function of the serial number realized by the MSP-GANG tool? Or is it controlled by your code? I don't remember MSP-GANG have this function(maybe I remember wrong).

thanks for your comment on this. The answer is yes, I use MSP-Gang Programmer along with the official application released by Elprotronic Inc.

In this application you have a serialization menu, that allows you to set the start serial number, the step of increment and the first memory location.

What happens to me is that, on a random basis, we have duplicated serial numbers and the application doesn't notify this.
