MSP430F5327: TI-RTOS MSP43x not shown in Resource Explore

Hi Xinjun,

Not all MSP430 devices have TIRTOS examples.  The only MSP430 examples with TIRTOS are the MSP430 F5529, FR5969, FR5994 and FR6989.  You can find the details in the TI-RTOS 2.20 for MSP43x getting started guide.

It may take some effort, but you can try porting the MSP430F5529 version to the F5327.

I understand that the example is not for F5327.  I tried to import the example under C:\ti\tirtos_msp43x_2_20_00_06\examples\MSP430\TI. However, there is no .ccsproject file under the directory, so I could not import the project into ccs. Please provide advice on how to import examples under that directory. I am using CCS V11.20.

Ok, I'm trying to see if I can duplicate what you are seeing but for the moment I'm getting a download failure from the TI-RTOS download site.

The link to download the document in the post you referred is broken. I am also trying to find the document online but got no luck. It would be great if you can direct me to download the  Creating TI-RTOS Projects for Other MSP430 Devices document.

I had to edit this post because there is no document "TI-RTOS Projects for other MSP430 Devices".  It is a wiki page.  See the link above to other E2E posting.  Scroll to bottom of that post to see response from DavidL.  In there you will find a link.  I am currently going through it to see the steps.

Actually there may be a simpler way to do this.  I'm investigating and will get back to you shortly.

Ok - sorry about that.  Not sure why.  I downloaded the html and put into zip.  See attached.

I think though the wiki is way too complicated and there is a easier way to do this. I'm trying another method, but not complete yet. Basically, here are the steps that seem to work so far. Note - I'm only showing the key concepts; there are a lot of little steps in between so you need to be very familiar with CCS and creating projects. I'm documenting all the little steps and if this works I'll post a pdf with full instructions.

Download  tirtos_msp43x_2_20_00_06 and XDCtools_3_32_00_06, then add them through your project properties and install them.  Use the exact versions you see here.

Next create an F5529 project (has to be F5529 else will not work) and under the project templates and examples you should see the TI-RTOS Examples as an option for the type of project template.  If you don't then make sure you selected F5529 and if still not, go back and try to reinstall the tirtos and XDCtools

Then in project templates and examples drill down using import wiz, you can choose from the list of examples.

I tried to build the first one in the list and ran into some errors, but it is during this time the ti-rtos is built.

This is as far as I got.  I did also try to switch the device to F5327 and the code re-built with same errors.

If I can figure out this error I believe this will work for you.   If you can follow and get this far, you might be able to fix the error before I do .

I have seen this error, and it is related to the compiler you are using. Please refer to the following post for detail. Use the TI v16.9.7 compiler would fix the problem.

Thanks - I'll give it try.  Curious to see if you can get as far as I did.

I would like to ask whether you have successfuly Build MSP430Ware driverlib and TI-RTOS driver libraries. shown in the wiki. It keeps throwing error to me.

Updated: make it work. Please let me know if you got stuck on this step.

Having my morning coffee.  Thank you for pointing me to the older compiler.  That allowed me to successfully build the ti-rtos examples.  I see you had trouble building MSP430Ware driverlib and TI-RTOS driver libraries.  I will try now. 

I took a break after successfully compile the tirtos and driver for F5327. I will continue to build a tiritos F5327 project on Monday. Hopefully it will work out well (finger crossed). Meanwhile, it would be great if you can help draft a tutorial on how to create a F5327 tirtos project, so that I can have some reference if coming with some problem. Thanks a lot and have a good weekend.

Yes - good idea.  BTW, Would you mind sharing what is the goal for using F5327?  Is this for a one-time project or a product?  If it is a product can you say what type of application? Others may be interested when they read this.

Hi, I just took a look of the .mak file. I am using a Window 10 machine and found that I need to make an additional change in order to make the  "build-ccs-msp430-driverlib" option work.

The old one throws an error saying "make" is not recognized as a command. 

Please let me know if the change makes sense to you.

I come up with an issue when creating the project. In the last section of wiki, I need to port over the board files for F5327.
