Part Number: MSP-EXP430G2
Hello!
I have a MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad board (eZ430) and it stopped working.
It was without use during about 1 year and when I tried to use now and connected the cable in PC, the board was not recognized and is not enumerated as USB device.
I was looking in the forum for similar issues and didn't find a solution.
I inspect the board and stated that the 12MHz clock is working from MSP430F1612 to TUSB3410 and the voltage in pin 9 (RESET) of TUSB3410 is about 3.4V.
I did another test: I connected VCC to the pin 5 (PUR) of TUSB3410 and then the board was recognized as USB Device (TUSB3410 Boot Device) as shown bellow. But when I disconnect VCC from pin 5 the USB disconnect.

I think it can be caused by corrupted firmware in the EEPROM or in the MSP430F1612.
Someone had the same issue? There is a way to fix it?
Regards,
Luan
HI Luan
I checked the MSP-EXP430G2ET_Schematic.PDF on MSP-EXP430G2ET Hardware Design Files
There is no MSP430F1612, MCU of emulator (eZ430) is MSP430F5528IRGCT.
Could you please comment where MSP430F1612 and TUSB3410 are used?
Thanks!
Hello,
Sorry for the missunderstanding. My board is the MSP-EXP430G2 (Without ET).
The documentatation is here: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau318g/slau318g.pdf
Hi Luan
Please check MSP Debuggers User's Guide (Rev. O)
I think the ezFET used on MSP-EXP430G2 is the Figure 6. eZ430 Emulation IP on page 9.
Could you please check if this UG can help you to reactive your MSP-EXP430G2 connection?
Thanks!
Hi Xiaodong,
Yes, mine is that one from Figure 6. But the UG didn't helped me.
I think my board is somehow bricked in a way that TUSB3410 don't load the firmware from EEPROM U5 and don't set the CONT bit in USBCTL register.
Maybe the eeprom is damaged or data was lost. There is a way to test if eeprom is working or if the problem is in MSPF1612?
Thanks
Hi Luan
Could you please check if the USB port is USB3.0? if yes, please check using USB2.0 port on PC
and please check if the USB device has been identified on your PC
Then, Please install the driver of FET
Thanks!
Hello Xiaodong,
I am using USB 2.0 port. I installed drivers, but device is not reconized.
Regards,
Luan
Hi Luan
Please please check if the USB device has been identified on your PC?
If the USB device can't be identified by PC, I will not have idea to solve the MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad problem
Thanks!
