MSP-GANG programmer , can not down load to target MCU (MSp430F5510), ERROR 33, IR communication failed happened in the PC software MSPgang interface, we have checked the connecting ,it was connected well

Thanks & Regards

Hi Yale,
Is this a custom board, and if so how do your SBW connections look? Can you share this portion of the schematic?
How long is the signal path between the MSP-GANG and the MSP430F5510?
Have you tried more than one board? Do you have another GANG you can try?
Best Regards,
Brandon Fisher
The connecting is according to the MSPgang datasheet, the path between msp-gang and 5510 is about 60cm, we have another msp-gang, we got it two years ago, it works very well.
Our hardware and connection of 5510 have not changed during these two years, Does your MSP-gang programmer have been changed hardware or software?
Hi Hari,
Welcome to the E2E forums.
If both are from the past two years then no, there should be no difference hardware wise.
With a 60cm signal path you are pushing past our limit of 50cm. Please see the MSP Gang User's Guide (https://www.ti.com/lit/slau358).
It is possible that since your signal length is close to our limit, this behavior is marginal, and one of these MSP-Gang's is able to support 60cm and the other isn't. If you can run a test with a shorter connection path with the non-working GANG programmer that should tell us if this is the cause.

Brandon Fisher
Just now I tried a short wire(about 20cm) to connect msp-gang and target mcu(5510),then still the same problem ERROR 33 occured. It seems the wire length is not the key problem.
Hi Hari,
Thank you for checking. That at least alleviates that concern.
Have you followed the guidelines for SBW connections and component values from this document (see figure 2-3)?
Best Regards,
Brandon Fisher
Hi Hari,
Can you run the Self Test from the MSP-GANG GUI?
Connect your troublesome MSP-GANG, and go to Tools -> Self Test in the MSP-GANG GUI.
Best Regards,
Brandon Fisher
Hi Hari,
Thank you for trying this.
Can you share a capture of your About window in the MSP-GANG GUI? Go to "About -> About" with the GUI open and your bad programmer connected.
Also, can you try reducing your SBW speed from fast to slow? Just hit the "Interface Option" button to do this. Then try programming again.
If neither of those reveal anything, I would say your MSP-GANG probably has a hardware issue. Where did you purchase it from?
Best Regards,
Brandon Fisher
Hi Hari,
The customer replied as follows:
Following Brandon Fisher94's recommendations below, I looked at the two burners as shown below. The SBW speed is adjusted to slow, which also does not work, and ERROR 33 still appears
Please arrange a return!!
Best Regards
