MSP430F6736A: Baud Rate of 1Mbps for UART@ XIN is 32Khz

Hi Experts,

I am posting this on behalf of the customer.

I just need to confirm “MSP430F6736A” The Max clock on Xin for this IC. is only 32.768KHz Yes or No?

And Can I use Higher like 4 Mhz for Xin so that I can achieve 1Mbps Baud Rate at the output ( Based on your Calculator based on yr link below)

At the moment, I am evaluating all the different processors. If The answer is No, Then I have to use another Processor to meet my system requirement of 1 Mbps or higher.

Is there any recommendation?

just because the crystal is at 32 KHz does not mean that the system clock is that low. it can be the reference for the FLL

Hello,

Yes, the max clock on XIN is 32.768 kHz. However, the maximum UART baud rate on this device is 5 Mbaud, which should be more than enough for your application. You would use the DCO instead of an external crystal.
