Hi team,
I have questions on power off sequence of MSP430G2403IPW28R.
- Do you have time limit to power off, like less than 10 ms?
- Do you have specific power off sequence, for example, power off after stopping main clock?
The backgruond of these questions is when customer uses MSP430G2403IPW28R in their board, somtimes MSP430 flash is deleted.
Thier usecase is 3.3V, 12MHz.
Could you please answer above 2 questions and give us your insight on solution?
Best regards,
Kento
Hi Kento,
I don't think this issue is cause by power off speed or sequence, maybe you need check if there are some flash operation, like flash write action in customer code.
If yes, maybe you need to check if the voltage and power supply current over spec when operate flash:
A quick method, maybe you can try to disable flash operation in customer code.
If there are no any flash operation in customer code, maybe you have to check power supply(or other pin) if high than 3.6V in some corner condition.
Thanks!

Hi Johnson,
The cureent customer situatoin is they have flash deleted just by turning power on/off. They don't input more than 3.6V.
And they are worried about keeping under 2.2V for 10~100ms like below picture.
Could you please let me know what it looks problem?
Best regards,
Kento
Hi Kento,
I checked the datasheet, I don't think this will result in this issue when powe equal 2.2V with about 100ms. Just some concern that if there are some flash operation, like program, in this periods.
Have you try decrease this 100ms time and test again?
Thansk!
Best Regards
Johnson
Hi Johnson,
They don't have any flash operation in this term. I'll ask customer to try decrease 2.2V time.
Best regards,
Kento
Hi Kenth,
Do we have futher test result that reduce 2.2V time?
Thanks!

Johnson
Hi Johnson,
With shortening 2.2V time, they didn't have this issue. Please find an attached file on detail. Left side on the file is before change, right is after. Also 3 GPIO shows below.
Green: Power SW in via GPIO and Hi means ON
Blue: Hi means leaving Power SW
Red: In Flash erase function, Hi
In erase function, it's 1.9V, Do you think it was the reason to erase?
And what should they do to improve?
Best regards,
Kento
Hi Kenth,
The flash operation volateg have to high than 2.2V, I think there will encounter some issue if erase flash with 1.9V, this is over spec.
In erase function, it's 1.9V, Do you think it was the reason to erase?
We have to ensure flash operation voltage high than 2.2v to avoid this issue, why the voltage too low?
In download image periode, I think we shoudl use a LDO to keep a stable volatge, correct?
Thanks!
Best Regards
Johnson
