I am trying to replicate the Captivate HID bridge (MSP430F5510IRGZT) adaptor part of the EVM430-CAPMINI touch evaluation module. It would be a great help if you could provide me with the firmware binary for the HID bridge controller used on the EVM430-CAPMINI board. The circuit for my HID adaptor is a clone of the HID bridge provided on the EVM430-CAPMINI module, so the production firmware binary used on the EVM430-CAPMINI evaluation module should work fine (See attached Schematic). This bridge module is for interfacing our CapTivate touch circuit based on MSP430FR2512 to the TI's CaptivateDesignCenter Application for calibration and testing.

Update:

Finally, I got a chance to test the provided firmware. When trying to flash the firmware for the MCU(MSP430F5510IRGZT) using MSP-Gang programmer, I am getting the following warning and error,

ERROR 396: WARNING: Code from file is out of range in selected MCU

ERROR 386: Code out of range of the selected MCU.

Please find the gang programmer setting below,

I am wondering if the provided firmware TI_MSP_HIDBRIDGE__1_00_03_00__CAPTIVATE-PGMR.txt is suitable for this MCU. It would be a great help if someone can help me in solving this issue.

I can't see the shematic. For the binary file, can you directly use ez-FET or MSP-GANG to read the image from one of the EVM430-CAPMINI. It will be more simple.

Schematic as below,

EVM430-CAPMINI reference schematic. I have made minor modifications including upgrade to USB-typeC and 'Y1' resonator (EVM board uses an obsolete component). Modified schematic also provided below. I don't think my modifications require a firmware update, if my understanding is correct the production firmware used on EVM430-CAPMINI HID controller should work as it is. Would highly appreciate if TI can share the HID controller firmware used on the EVM430-CAPMINI board.

I will try to perform a firmware dump as you suggested. I am new to MSP controllers, and I guess I can find some resources online for firmware dump on MSP controllers.

You can read the device memory from the JTAG port, using eZ-FET or something else which can debug MSP430, with Uniflash

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response. I don't have access to the hardware at the moment as am travelling. We only have MSP Gang programmer with us, I hope the MSP Gang programmer can also perform the memory dump or should I order an eZ-FET as you suggested?

MSP-GANG can also do that. It is just a MSP430.

Hi, as suggested, I was able to readout the demo board HID firmware using MSP- GANG programmer and tested it on my hardware. It works fine. Please find the attached firmware for anyone who is going through the same path.
