MSP430FR2355: MSP-FET with MSP430FR2355 – Debug Interface Secured & Device Configuration Data Inconsistent Errors

Part Number: MSP430FR2355
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET, , UNIFLASH

Dear TI Support Team,

I am currently encountering connection issues when using an MSP-FET to connect to an MSP430FR2355 device. I would appreciate your guidance on possible causes and troubleshooting steps.

Target Device: MSP430FR2355
Debug Probe: MSP-FET
Tools Used: CCS/UniFlash

Observed Error Messages

  1. “Debug Interface to the device has been secured.”

  2. “Device configuration data inconsistent. Please discontinue using/replace target device.”

The device cannot be connected via debug interface, and export/read operations fail.

Questions

Thank you very much for your support.

Best regards,
Yen Ting Liu

  • Hi Yen,
The first error message means the protection fuse in the MSP430 has been blown. Once this is the case, the device can't be connected nor read from again.

  • Hi DIego

    Thanks for the clarification.

    I have two follow-up questions:

    1. After “Debug Interface to the device has been secured”, is it still possible to access the device via BSL (UART BSL) to read out main FRAM contents or read registers to confirm whether the device is truly locked.
In other words, does a secured debug interface automatically block BSL access on MSP430FR2355, or can BSL still be used for readback without mass erase?

    2. Regarding “Device configuration data inconsistent. Please discontinue using/replace target device.” What methods can be used to determine the root cause?

    Thank you for your guidance.

    Best regards,
    Yen-Ting Liu
