MSP430FR5989-EP: Device configuration data inconsistent

Hi,

According to another related post. 

On a previous investigation found that that the "Device configuration data inconsistent. Please discontinue using/replace target device" error is reported  if the MSP-FET detects that the "CRC of Bootdata is damaged".

The thread MSP430: Error connecting to the target: Device configuration data inconsistent. Please discontinue using/replace target device. reports the same error, and says the error was caused by damaging the device by applying a voltage to a device pin greater than the absolute maximum ratings.

What are the connections so the MSP430FR5989-EP device, and has it previously worked?

Here is our schematic. It has previously worked only once while debugging. Do we have to remove and insert another MCU on our board?

I am afraid so. If the boot code is damaged, there is nothing we can do for that MCU. You may need to replace another one.

I have two questions about this problem.

You said that the error was caused by damaging the device by applying a voltage to a device pin greater than the absolute maximum ratings.  We are using voltage translator between JTAG pins and MCU. Besides, the voltage sources are different between each other like 3v3_jtag and 3v3 mcu main voltage source. I suppose, the problem does not caused the jtag voltage levels.

My first quesiton is that do we need to still replace another MCU?

My second question is about the MCU type in CCS. We are using MSP430FR5989-EP model but there is no such a model like this in CCS. We chose MSP430FR5989. Is it the correct one?

Hello, 

We have changed the MCU and we can program and debug it now. We could not find the reason of it but it seems ok now.
