Do I need a MSP-FET430 Flash Emulation Tool to program MSP430FG4618/F2013 Experimenter Board (DSP13767U) ??

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FG4618

I need MSP430FG4618/F2013 Experimenter Board (DSP13767U).However when I read the documentation of the MSP 430 Board, I got an idea that we might also require MSP-FET430 Flash Emulation Tool (FET) (for Use With IAR v3+)  to go with the MSP430 Board.

This is my main confusion. I know I do need the MSP 430 Board but does the board really need MSP-FET430 Flash Emulation Tool (FET) (for Use With IAR v3+) to go with it ?

I would really appreciate an answer for this. Thank you for your support.

  • Hi Ashutosh.

The answer is yes. You will need some kind of programmer/debugger tool in addition to the Experimenter board itself. The MSP-FET430UIF is a good candidate that via USB on your PC supports both debugging via the normal JTAG interface (e.g. on the MSP430FG4618) and the Spy Bi-Wire (2-wire) interface used by some 2xx parts and supported on the newer 5xx family.

By only having the experimenter board you will not be able to accomplish much :-(
