Hello all,
My lab recently purchased a new laptop that came preloaded with Windows 8. I have an IAR Embedded + MSP-FET430UIF setup running just fine on my Windows 7 system but for the life of my I can't get the proper drivers to load for the MSP-FET430UIF on this Windows 8 system. The device appears in Device Manager as shown in the attached image. No amount of searching for an updated driver helps. Is this hardware supported by Windows 8? Any help on this would be much appreciated.
I am surprised (or not) that this question has not been answered yet. I have encountered a similar problem with the TI MSP-FET430UIF driver. In my case, the IDE is Crossworks, not IAR. As a side note, I have verified that the Elprotronics software and FET hardware work with Windows 8. Has anyone had success using the TI MSP-FET430UIF with either CCS, IAR, or Crossworks on Windows 8 64-bit? If so, please let us know.
I'm in good shape with Windows 8, the USB FET and CCS. The FET reliably works with CCS, RFstudio, FETPro Lite and the TI Flash Programmer.
Details below:
OS: Windows 8, 64 bit on an i7-3517U w/8GB RAM
OS Driver: "usbser.sys", 6.2.9.9200.16384 (win8_rtm.120725-1247)
FET Driver: version 1.4.0.0 date: 4/8/2011 by Texas Instruments
One caveat however is that the FET crashes my computer if "sleep" mode is enabled. i.e. USB FET still plugged in, laptop lid is closed, computer doesn't sleep, gets hot and cannot recover - hard reset required. If you remove the FET prior to sleeping the PC, everything is OK
Best of luck!
MK
No issue for us with the last IAR 5.52 and windows 8 (FET430UIF has been updated; no status without this update).
Try using this: http://www.ti.com/general/docs/lit/getliterature.tsp?literatureNumber=sllc428a&fileType=zip . It's an updated driver for TIUSB3410.
1) Install it (it will appear on "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments Inc\TI_WDF_USBUART_SINGLE_DRIVER_V6.7.2.0_WHQL\" folder)
2) Use windows device manager to manually install the driver
I solved this problem updating TUSB3410 driver.
First, try installing MSP-FET430UIF driver manually using WIndows Device Manager. Then, use this:
http://e2e.ti.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/130/5504.TI_5F00_WDF_5F00_USBUART_5F00_SINGLE_5F00_DRIVER_5F00_V6.7.1_5F00_Win8_5F00_Installer_5F00_WHQL.zip
Unzip and run setup.
DEar Alexandre,
I have installed these drivers but when I install I get error Encountered error while installing MSPFET430UIF-VCP driver: " Data is Invalid"
Please help me out as I am stuck.
Thanks and Regards,

I had the same driver problem under Windows 8.1 with the MSP-FET430UIF. Alexandre Hagihara answer worked for me.
www.ti.com/general/docs/lit/getliterature.tsp?literatureNumber=sllc428a&fileType=zip
That has the driver. Unzip, run the unpack, then install the executable and it works.
Verified this worked for me on win 10... follow the steeps and manually add the .dll and your good - EC
