What kind of MSP430 can't use "MSP-EXP430G2 Rev1.5 LaunchPad" to develop?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5510, MSP430G2955

The MSP430 Hardware Tools User Guide(SLAU278N) Table 1-1 say, that only support MSP430F20xx, F21x2, F22xx, x G2x01, G2x11, G2x21, G2x31, G2x53.

But I can use it on MSP430F5510, and work fine. But I can't use it on MSP430G2955.

Cloud somebody can tell me why? and what kind of MSP430 can't use on this LaunchPad?

The problem is on Firmware version?

MSP430G2955 is not supported by Launchpad (firmware) because TI supports only chips that can be plugged/inserted in Launchpad DIP socket, and don't want to see 10$ Launchpad as standalone programmer.

MSP430G2955 is like any other MSP430x2xx device regarding flashing, and my SBW+ multi-programer don't have any problems with it.

Support for any MSP needs to be individually added to the programming tools (FETs).
For the 5510, this apparently has been done, even though not officially supported. For the new 2955, it hasn't been done. Maybe it will be suddenly there when a new MSP that fits into the LaunchPad socket is created and added to the LaunchPad programming support. But until then, I don't expect any firmware update for the LaunchPad and therefore no 'accidental' support of other new chips since release of the 2553.
