Hello,
in the MSP430x4xx Family user's guide chapter " LCD_A Controller" is written
"A 4.7 μF or larger capacitor must be connected from pin LCDCAP to ground
when the internal charge pump is enabled. Otherwise, damage can occur."
Does anybody know which specific effects this damage would have ?
Kind regards from Chemnitz !
Strictly a "swag" (have made no effort to read/review data) - 4uF7 is pretty large C value - when absent the charge pump may produce a voltage spike beyond the device rating - and that spike may injure the charge pump and any other device interconnected.
May also prove true that the cap is also required for loop stability - and charge pump may "run amuck" when absent.
