Programmer’s Guide in slac285 mentions the following

MSP430 USB Device Firmware Update (DFU) Starter Project:
Demo app available now; starter project available August 2009

Are these available? If they are can some one give me the links?

I posted this question on December 5th with no answer. Please help.

Thanks.

  • I have also been looking for this for quite some time.  Any information concerning when it may become available would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • It's much closer, but still a few weeks away.  Obviously we haven't gotten it done when we thought we would, and we realize that's an inconvenience to you.  We're working through some process growing pains and expect to do better going forward, both with communication and target dates.  Please stay tuned.

    Regards,

    Keith

  • Keith,

Do you have any status update when the DFU will be released?
    Customers are asking for that.

    Regards,
    Matthias

  • Matthias,

the code is pretty much in the ready state and just requires some minor changes to make it a proper installation package before it can be finalized and packaged. Sorry I don't have a definite answer as when the release date is, but it should be coming very soon.  As I have mentioned in other similar queries on the forums, I will update you when this happens.

    Dung

  • Ok, it's been another month now and I still don't see that the 'MSP430 Device Firmware Update (DFU) Windows Starter Project' project is available. I have an open 'Service Request' on this subject... but it hasn't been answered.

So, when is this going to be available? I'm trying to design a product around your processor and I'm beginning to believe that we've all been sold a bill of goods by TI.

  • I try to use MSP430F5529 in my project, but I have faced problems. All documentation is not finished! It is really problem! There is no API class MSC for USB! Why chips a year in the market, and buyers face such problems?

  • Hi Anton,

yes, the MSC class is still missing! But, pls not that the MSP430F5529 is in mass production since a few month only (and not one year)!

  • Hi all,

And actually, as further clarification -- no MSP430 USB device is in production, even now.  F552x, our first USB device, is scheduled for release exactly one month from now.  However, given the press release that went out nearly a year ago, I certainly understand the confusion.

Our MSC API stack is in development now, scheduled for a beta release in about 1.5 months. Finalization of the documentation/software is ongoing, and will continue over the next few months.

    Regards,

    Keith

  • Hi Keith,

Maybe you should look at your own website (www.ti.com)... The MSP430F5529 is listed as 'ACTIVE' on your website.

    Steve

  • Steve,

What I do know is our internal schedules, and the F552x is not in production yet.

It may have become "orderable" recently, with the release to production approaching.  This would probably cause it to be marked 'active' on the website.

    Regards, Keith

  • What speed I can achieve using CDC API? I need to receive files in the size about mbyte and to transfer them on SPI. What constructs for this purpose to use? Tell please!

  • Keith,

Do you have any status update when the DFU will be released?
    Can you post a link?

    Regards,
    Rich
