Hello everyone,
I am having trouble trying to get MSP-FET430UIF recognising and talking to an evaluation board that has a MSP430F5528 on it. It is powered by a small Li-Polymer battery followed by a 3V regulator and has a 14-ping JTAG header. The FET has V3 firmware on it. However, when I try to connect to the board using MSP430Flasher (both on Windows 7 and Linux) I keep getting "Could not set device Vcc" error. However, I have checked that pin-4 of the JTAG header is connected to regulator output and has 3V on it with the FET cable connected to it. I have also tried to power the board by disconnecting the battery and shorting out pin-2 and pin-4 of the JTAG connector but I still get the same error.
It appears that others have also had similar problems and some has suggested to downgrade to V2 and then upgrade to V3 firmware. I have installed CCS 5 but cannot find a way of doing that. Any suggestions or help will be really appreciated.
Hi Sarfraz,
Could you post a schematic, or at least a schematic showing the JTAG or SBW connections that you are using? This will help us to see your setup.
You mentioned that you tried 430Flasher - have you had the same experience when using other software tools to try to load code into the part like CCS or IAR?
Regards,
Katie
Hi Katie,
Thanks for getting back. I have now managed to solve the issue by downgrading the FET to firmware v2 using a utility that I found on some thread here (my code composer installation didn't include it or at least I couldn't find it) and then upgrading it to v3 using MSPFlasher.
Hope that it helps others who might encounter similar errors.
Regards
