tertiary module function

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR5969, MSP430WARE

Would someone please clarify this this API call, "GPIO_setAsPeripheralModuleFunctionOutputPin."

What is it, and what is the practical use of it?

Thank you,

Didn't User Manual of library and Users' Guide of chip clarify this enough?

  • Which MCU you are using, this sounds more C2000 but not MSP or you refer here to a macro from some library.

  • I'm using, or trying my best to learn, and get myself comfortable with MSP430FR5969.

The reason I asked this tertiary function is from Lab exercise, downloaded from TI Wiki.  Instructor is using some unknown waveform generated from this analog output signal, converted to digital input, and then compare it with the supply voltage, but I can't find the correlation between supply voltage to this unknown arbitrary waveform, and I'm struggling for days to figure out what it is about.

Google can't tell me much of what this tertiary function does.  TI has no reference as to how this specific output is used for in what application, so I'm not sure what I'm doing following the exercise.  I know the intend of exercise is to demonstrate how to use the driver library for this series of MCU, but I'm thinking there has to be a reason why instructor chose this output, that I can't figure out.

  • This is a function from the driver library for the F(R)5/6 available in MSP430ware. If you are using CCS just click the function statement and push F3 and you moves to the source.
