Hey everyone!
Just a boring information :-) Two days ago I ordered the new MSP-FET and it has just arrived this morning. What a cute little piece of electronics. Compared to the MSP-FET430UIF this one comes in much smoother shape, is tinier and it's rubber surface feels much better.
I've connected it to my actual project with the MSP430FR6989 and I'm really!!! enthusiastic about the Energytrace++ functionality. Now I can see the percental energy consumption for every single function and you can see the differences between the same code, written in different ways, just because the cache hit ratio varies.
Fantastic!!!
This one is definitely worth it's money.
OK, maybe this isn't a terrific information for everyone because this FET is available for quite a time now, but: It's new to me and I'm happy :-)
Have a good day!
Thank you for your posting. It is good to hear that.
I have been using a old version and was frustrated with it very often. My problem is not the lacking of features. My problem is in the dll's and the firmware updates. I know both are open-source. But for a tool, I do not care about open-source or not, I want a tool to work for me. I do not want to work on the tool.
Hello Dennis,
glad you like the new MSP-FET and EnergyTrace.
I'll forward your feedback to the team.
Thanks
Tom

Declared "Up to 4x faster read/write speeds than the previous FET programmer version, MSP-FET430UIF" presented as KByte/s is? How much time it takes for download 128 KB to MSP430FR6989?
Hello Zrno,
you can find the MSP-FET specification in the MSP430 Hardware Tools UserGuide
www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slau278 see the "B.36.7 Specifications" section.

Thank you, I was searching for this...
Did you change any jumpers on the Launchpad before using the MSP-FET?
Thanks
