i have usb to rs232 converter like this.how to connect this to msp430 laubchpad for uart?

You need to add an RS-232 chip between the DE-9 connector and the MSP430. Something along the lines of a MAX3323 device.

Rushin,

It would be eaiser to get a USB -> Serial converter that works off of TTL levels. Then you can connect it directly to the MSP430. The device above needs 12V signal levels.

can you tell me connection? because when i remove jumpers from msp430 launchpad. i have two RXD and two TXD pins.

this is also usb to serial converter. i am using it with my keil lpc2148 board. and it work for me

If you remove the jumpers you have to use the Rx and Tx located on the processor's side of the LaunchPad, not the emulator's side.

The product page for the MSP430G2553 has links to the documenation of the launchpad, which includes the schematic diagram of the board. I would suggest taking a look so that you understand how/where to hook your connections up to.

And I can't stress enough that the device you shown cannot be hooked directly to the launchpad board. That DE-9 connector has RS-232 signal levels (up to +/-12V) and they have to be translated back to LVTTL (+3.3V) levels first.
