Error initializing emulator: Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified COM port

Hello to the community.

I ve got the error message shown above.

I also saw, that there are several postings deal about this issue.

But in all that postings isnt shown a real way to fix that issue.

I reainstalled CCS already but the issue is the same, when start the debugger the message pos up which tells "Error initializing emulator:
Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified COM port".

I also removed the driver and reinstalled them, with the same result.

What could be the matter for this problem and how can I fix it?

My operating system is WIN XP (32bit) SP3, the CCS is 6.1.0 .

Thanks you and Greetings from Berlin.

  • Stefan,

did you have a look in the device manager of Windows to see if the FET has enumerated properly?

    Dennis
  • Hi Stefan,

If you go to the Device Manager and enable "Show hidden devices" you can check if the tool enumerated on a different port before.

You might see multiple entries on different com ports. Uninstall all entries related to the FET Tool while it is unplugged and plug it back in. That usually works for me.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Christoph

  • Cool! Didn't know you can show devices that once were connected and got a dedicated COM port.
  • Sorry,

    a little late...

    Thanks for your suggestion.

I will follow it if the same issue appears.

At the moment there are no problems, because I downgraded to v6.0.1.

But now I will try to setup the newest version, including the MSP432 device.

    Let's see what's happen then...

    Greetings from Berlin.

    Stefan
