Hi,

i am using MSP430F5329 controller, and using the CCSV5.5 version, when i was trying to dump the program getting MSP430: Error initializing emulator: Unable to locate entry point for MSP430_Identify  Error, searched no.of posts but i didn't get any answer. 

what is the meaning of  "MSP430: Error initializing emulator: Unable to locate entry point for MSP430_Identify"

    Hi Mahdhu,

    This is an issue dealing with the MSP430.DLL version such that CCS cannot find the expected entry point. The strange part is that support for the MSP430F5329 is included in DLLv2.4.7.1 back from CCSv4.2.1. You should most definitely not be getting this error with CCSv5.5. Try downloading and installing a new DLL from the Wiki page: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../MSP_Debug_Stack

    You should also check for CCS updates or consider installing CCSv6.1.

    Hi Ryan Brown thanks for giving replay,

      i was installed CCSV6.1, during of program dumping its showing "NO USB FET was found", i was installed new DLL also, my MSP430F5239 is not launchpad it is designed in our company, already i cross check JTAG connections, JTAG connection is 4 wire not 2 wire, according to data sheet i was connected TEST to VCC. what is the meaning of NO USB FET was found.

    Hi Madhu,

    This error means that the CCS IDE cannot recognize your FET device, in which case the issue is not related to your board design. May I ask which FET device you are using (MSP-FET, MSP-FET430UIF, eZ-FET)? When connected, does the FET device install properly on your system and does it enumerate both an Application UART and Debug Interface COM Port inside of your Device Manager?

    Using Piccolo JTAG(Docking-Stn USB -EMU) i think that is the problem. thanks once again Ryan Brown i am purchasing the MSP-FET430UIF, this is supported to MSP430F5329.

    MSP430 devices are most definitely not supported by the FET tool mentioned. I would recommend purchasing the MSP-FET as it is the newest MSP430 programmer and debugger available.

    problem is JTAG only what ever u said that is correct.  i am using MSP430G2553 lunch pad to dumping the program. it is working thanks once again.
