Programming MSP430FR2633 using MSP-EXP430F5529LP

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR2633, MSP-EXP430F5529LP, MSP430F149

Hello,

can anyone confirm that I can program the MSP430FR2633 mcu on a custom board using the debugger built in the  MSP-EXP430F5529LP launchpad ?

I found the following posts:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp430/f/166/p/448977/1614121

where it seems to be possible, but on the MSP-EXP430F5529LP User's Guide (slau533c.pdf) I read that:

The eZ-FET lite is simple and low cost. Like the emulator on the G2 LaunchPad (MSP-EXP430G2), it provides a "backchannel" UART-over-USB connection with the host, which can be very useful during debugging. But unlike the G2's emulator, it:

• supports almost all MSP430 derivatives

Besides that, Table 1 of http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau647e/slau647e.pdf states that eZ-FET lite supports all MSP430 variants. I'd like to resolve the doubt about that "almost all", regarding the FR2633.

Thanks

  • Hi Fabio,

eZ-FET and eZ-FET Lite only support SBW mode (2-wire JTAG) and some of the really old parts like MSP430F149 do not have a TEST pin and do not have SBW mode. So I think these are what is meant when it says "almost all". MSP430FR2633 should be fine.

    Regards,
