Could not find MSP-FET430UIF on specified COM port : (Initialize) , port=USB, version=0xffffffff

Hi all

I have one EVM430F6736 energy meter module. I have downloaded the slaa517e zip file and followed the following steps

1. In IAR 5.6 version I rebuild all the files inside emeter-toolkit folder

2. I rebuild all the files inside emeter-ng

3. Building process was successfully done.

4. I have connected my energy meter with a RS-232 USb cable to my PC.

5. The GUI is also working fine.

But when I debug and download it into energy meter the following error is showing

    Hi Soham,

    Thanks for posting. In order to program the EVM430-F6736 you need to have an MSP-FET or MSP-FET430UIF programming tool - you cannot simply program it over the RS-232 connection. Do you have one of these tools and have it connected to the board when you are trying to program? If not, then you will need to get this tool and then connect it to the JTAG header shown in figure 12 of the document for this EVM, www.ti.com/.../slaa517 and the jumper JP1 in the correct position depending on how you are powering the board. See Table 1 Header Names and Jumpers Settings in the same document for more information.

    Hi Soham,

    I would recommend getting the MSP-FET (not MSP-FET430UIF) as it is the newer version and has more features.
