MSP430G2955: does MSP430G2955 fit into msp430 launch pad development kit?

i have a msp430 luanchpad development kit with a msp430g2553 microcontroller in it, i wanted to know if MSP430G2955 will fir into this launch pad.

Are you asking if you will be able to plug an SMD device into the DIP socket?

Section 4.7 of the MSP-EXP430G2 User's Guide lists the supported devices. The G2955 is not in this list.

The eZ-FET (lite) emulator on all modern LaunchPads (i.e., all except the MSP-EXP430G2) supports all models.

I have also ez430-f2013 development tool? does it works with G2995 or has the imply it fits only to F2013?

G2 LP can be used for flashing MSP430G2955 by SBW using mspdebug.

G2 LP can be used as BSL base, for flashing MSP430G2955 by BSL (sla535 Launchpad-Based MSP430 UART BSL Interface).

As I said, all the other MSP430 LaunchPads can access the G2955 as target. (They do not have a socket; you'd have to connect the emulator to your own board or breadboard with a bunch of wires.)

Yep, v1.5 LP has no "hardware" or "firmware" glitches preventing it from programming the G2955. I trust the other G2xx4 and G2xx5 chips are similar. MSPDebug just needs the new ID codes and details (or you need to build the current GIT version -- see http://mspdebug.sourceforge.net/download.html ) or else it flips out and ignores your chip.
