MSP430F2619: Wrong BSL password erase info flas

Part Number: MSP430F2619

Hello,
my customer uses the MSP430F2619 and needs access it through the BSL. In case of a wrong password the complete flash is erased including the info flash. They need the info flash not erased!

But the "MSP430™ Flash Device Bootloader (BSL)" mentioned that the info flash will not be erased:

They can disable the immediate erase when the password is wrong (with  BSLSKEY), but then they must keep track of all the possible passwords and keep trying... They don't want that.

Regards, Holger

  • Hello Holger,

Section 3.5.2 of SLAU319 actually refers to the F5xx/6xx BSL, a mass erase on 1xx/2xx/4xx devices will erase the entire main flash memory as well as info memory. The LOCKA bit is actually reset by the BSL automatically to ensure that information memory is cleared on a mass erase (from Section 2.4.4.4). The user must supply the correct password, disable the flash erasure using the BSLSKEY, or find a way to recover their TLV structure info.

    Regards,
    Ryan
