MSP430FR5994: Downloading a custom application and BSL to MSP430FR5994

Part Number: MSP430FR5994

Hi there,

I have leveraged off SLAA721B application report to download a BSL and custom application.

However, the application report requires a host MSP to download the application and BSL to the target MSP.

Is there a way to download the BSL and custom application without the need for a host? If so, how will this be done?

Regards

Andrew

  • Hi Andrew
I will check the detailed and reply to you ASAP
  • Hi Xiaodong,

    Cheers,

I have another question that extends from the main thread questions.

We currently have a custom device that has a MSP430FR5994 device. We want intially want a BSL to verify that
our application currently on the device exists.

From SLAA721B and SLA600D application notes, there are two ways we can approach this, either in single or dual-image mode.

From my understanding, it looks like the application manager validates the image in the "AppArea" in both single and dual-image mode.

Which of the two BSL modes would be most appropriate for verifying a valid application?

    Regards
    Andrew

The host MSP is for demo this BSL function. MSP430FRBoot on target MCU sides can be programmed through FET and IDE.

    I can't find SLA600D in TI.COM.

Based on my understanding from SLAA721B, I think that CRC checking on application validation and Dual Image Support on user code updating process should be the good option.
