CCS/MSP430FR5969: LOW POWER MODES

Part Number: MSP430FR5969

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

hi this is harikrishna..

I am doing the project based on LPM modes ..after all the documenteation have read..i going to using the LPM4 mode in my project..

when i checking the examples in the ccs resource explore i am not getting the current consumption in uA ..i am getting the values in mA..i am giving the externer vcc 3.3 volts to the mcu and checking for the mcu load..

for the execution it is taking 230mA and more ..after enters to the LPM4 it is still taking in mA(20,10) current.. not enter to the uA..after removing the debugeer also still in mA(10) only..please give a suggestion

to enter LPM4 properly...

  • Hello Harikrishna,
many thanks for contacting our support. The code examples found in the TI-Explorer environment should work fine, and enable you reproducing the performance.
Unfortunately based on your description, it is not possible to give you recommendations down to the very detail. Please provide us more information on the specific code example, you are using to configure the device for LPM4 (I assume you're using the code examples without any change). In case you have changed the code example, please send us the modified code.
The problem could also be related to the HW, you're using. Thus please also provide detailed information on the HW.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Best regards
    Peter
  • Hi harikrishna
Here is some tips for you here to get low power consumption:
    1. Pull up or pull down the unused GPIO pins
    2. Use the XT1 as the clock source
    3. Can you make sure the current is generate by the MSP430?What's the hardware you test?

    B.R.

  • Hello Harikrishna,
could you please let us know, whether you still need some support, or is the problem solved? Many thanks in advance.

    Best regards
