Hello Johnny,

It sounds like energia is not seeing your USB FET programmer built onto the launchpad.

Can you confirm that the Launchpad is connected to the PC and is recieving power? There should be a power LED lit up.

Next, check your device manager. You should see the FET and some COM ports show up when you connect the launchpad. Are you see this as well?

There is a LED lit and I can see the device on my device manager. There are no ports listed however.

Also, I noticed that a Britta Ruelander worked on this same issue in another thread.
I tried all of the advice she gave and I still can't get it to work

Hey Johnny,

Can you link the thread of Britta's that you already ran though? If not, it's okay.

Also, what operating system are you running, etc?

Can you try CCS cloud and see if it can connect and download to your launchpad? Go here and click the import to CCS Cloud next to the MSP430F55xx_1.c project. It should automatically import to CCS Cloud where you can hopefully download and run it, blinking LED1 on the Launchpad.

Let usknow if that is working.

So I tried to load the blink from the CCS cloud and due to work restrictions (i'm on a work computer) I cant download the TICloud agent

Understood. Do you have Code Composer installed on your computer? If so, you can download and import the project.

I'm trying to determine if this is a hardware/driver problem or something with energia.

Also, I haven't had any problems with my Arduino uno on the same computer

So, here is the update........
The downloaded CCS is a no go
I installed the Cloud agent and it is enabled in my browser and I still can't load blink.
I also have a brand new msp4305529 that I opened up and I have the same problem

Hey Johnny,

Did you try downloading UniFlash like Britta suggested in the other thread? Was it able to recognize the FET?

Also, how is the FET being displayed in your device manager?

As in Britta's thread, it's unlikely but it is possible that there is an issue with the launchpads.

Sorry to bother you in a weekend but I made some progress. I took my project home and here is what I did.

1) Pulled up TI cloud tools and installed TI cloud agent.

2) Opened Uniflash

3) Chose my device

4) Chose "Memory" from menu

5) clicked "read target device"

6) It could not read target device and asked if I wanted to update firmware.

7) Updated firmware

8) Went back to my work space on CCS, loaded "blink" onto my launchpad.

9) Launchpad started blinking and I was able to edit the program successfully.

I haven't tried energia yet but I will get back to you with the results

My launchpad is working with energia after the firmware update.
