MSP-GANG: MSP-GANG Vrs MSP430 GANG

Part Number: MSP-GANG
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FG4619,

Settings with MSPGANG.PDFEarlier we are using  MSP430 gang programmer to program the IC MSP430FG4619
As MSP430 phased out we brought MSP-GANG programmer to program this IC.

But we have observed this IC is getting programmed but Application is not working.

Please help is I need to set additional settings in MSP-GANG programmer?

  • Hey Manoj,

I believe you're getting both Pass and Fail because it says it's successfully programmed target 1 but failing targets 2-8 (because there is nothing connected.) I believe if you just uncheck the boxes for Target Enable 2-8, you should get a pass with the green light only.

As for target 1, it appears to be correctly programming the device. Can you describe what you mean by "Application is not working"?

    Thanks,
    JD
  • Manoj,

There is a screen shot in Section 2.1.1 of the MSP-GANG User's guide showing a success programming of a single target. In this example, they also secure it, but it shows the checkboxes I'm describing.

  • IC is getting programmed but Application is not working.

If I do programming using MSP430 application is working but if I do same programming using MSP-gang application is not working
  • Hey Manoj,

I don't understand. How was the image flashed but not run? Are there errors in the image?

Were you able to change the setup to show only success LED for the 1 target?
If not, How long is the cable from the Gang to the target board? it should be under 8in.

There is a verify function on the MSP-GANG, used to confirm that the image flashed into MSP430 matches the source. You should try this. It's discussed in the MSP-Gang User's Guide.

    Thanks,
    JD
  • Hi JD,

    Issue is resolved now.

Power On Reset is required after flashing the controller.

Earlier it was not required with MSP430.

    Regards,

    Manoj
