MSP432E401Y: Error: The value is '-233' (0xffffff17). The title is 'SC_ERR_PATH_BROKEN'.

Part Number: MSP432E401Y

When using ccs8, and the MSP432e401y debugger to test the JTAG on a custom, un configured board with the same model number MSP432 MCU, i get the error code above.

I found a thread for a similar error code on an unrelated DSP chip, indicating that it was fixed by replacing the Chips. Are there any other options which might cause this issue?

  • Can you provide some more details about your setup?  What is the debugger?  XDS110 found on the launchpad?  Have you configured the JTAG connection as described in the system design guide?

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Of course.

    I am using the launchpad's XDS110 Dubugger.
The Jtag connection is configured as described (I ma using the cortex 10 pin header)

Pin 1 (VTREF) is conected via a 100 Ohm Resistor to VDD (3.3V)
PIn 2 (TMS) is connected to PC1, wth a 10K pullup Resistor to VDD
Pins 3, 5, and 9 are connected to GND
Pin 4 (TCK) is connected to PC0 with a 10K Pull up Resistor to VDD
Pin 6 (TDO is connected to PC3, and a 10K Pull down resistor to GND
Pin 7 (KEY) has no conenction
Pin 8 (TDI) is connected to PC2, without any pull up or down resistors
Pin 10 (nRST) is connected to Pin 70 on the MCU (RST_N), and a 10K Pull up Resistor to VDD

All traces are less than 1" long.
  • And also confirm the settings in CCS:

    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Confirmed.

Foir those who come after me, this was a hand solderd prottype board somewhere in that I created a hidden short. Reworking the chip solved that problem, so that the system now passes the IR and DR tests.

Im now moving on to a new but related problem... Thansk
