I am thinking of buying MSP430G2ET board but I would like to use it on Linux with mspdebug and msp-430gcc?
Hey Laszlo,
mspdebug should work fine with the MSP430G2ET launchpad in linux. Here is a thread of a user using this setup: https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/msp430/f/166/t/724964?Linux-MSP-EXP430G2-Launchpad-is-not-detecting-in-Ubuntu
Thanks,
JD
Hey JD,
I am not sure this is certianly works; because, the ET board has new debug chip. ET works with CCS in linux despite of the old G2 for sure - which is great on my PC with Debian -, but I would like to use it with Raspberry, on what only mspdebug runs.
If you have experience with setup would be great to share. G2 had "mspdebug rf2500" but this setup will not work with ET card for sure. I would like to test CC2500/CC1100 radio running with ET card so I need a second card beside G2, but I am afraid of compatibility problems with Raspberry-mspdebug.
Regards,
Laszlo
Hey Laszlo,
Honestly, I'm not very familiar with MSPDebug as it's an opensource project.
You are correct, that the newest MSP-EXP430G2ET uses a new debug interface. This new debug interface is known as eZ-FET, sometimes just referred to as eZ debuggers.
Another possible option that does support these on board eZ-FETs is MSPDS.
Maybe someone from the community who works with the Raspberry PI might add to this.
Thanks and good luck.
JD
Hey JD,
I have tried to compile MSPDS on Raspbian and Debian as well. Basically, at the first step there is compile error.
Would you so kind testing mspdebug with uif switch (which is eZFET) that maybe run.
Laszlo
Hello JD,
sorry for being so negative with the first experiences. Following the documentations (READMEs) etc. I was able compile and run MSPDS.
Thank you and sorry again!
LAszlo
