Hello,
I'm designing a new board based on the MSP430F5529.
The purpose of the board is to sample analog data and send it to another MSP430F5529 on another board about 2 meter away (connected via cable).
I need the communication will be fast ~1Mbps.
I have 2 questions:
1. Can the MSP UART handle that speed over that distance?
2. Can I use the MSP430F5529 USB interface for communication between them? (If yes then how?)
Thanks,
Ofer.
Hi ofer,
It is difficult for the UART to reach this rate, and it will generate a large bit error rate, as shown in the following figure (MSP430F5xx User's Guide http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau208q/slau208q.pdf ):
When the baud rate is 230400, there will be a bit error rate of about 5%, so the speed of 1Mbps is difficult to achieve normal communication.
Secondly, the USB theory communication speed can be achieved at 1Mbps. For specific use, please refer to EXP-MSP430F5529LP User's Guide page 49, the link is attached.
